November Wine Selections
Happy Thanksgiving, Members:
This month we have two wine selections perfect for your holiday gatherings. Both from Napa, the Sterling Chardonnay and Joseph Carr Cabernet are excellent pairings for both Thanksgiving dinner or simply by itself. Both highly acclaimed selections are listed in more detail below.
Joseph Carr Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2009
• A deep purple hue, and has great clarity for wine that is traditionally unfiltered.
• The bouquet offers scents of ripe black currant, smoke and saddle.
• Flavors include dark cherry and ripe plum with a hint of vanilla and cocoa dust.
• Firm, but approachable tannin structure accents a balanced and long finish
• Food friendly and would pair well with veal parmigianna, rib eye, or braised ham.
Sterling Napa Chardonnay 2009
• Aromas and flavors of fresh pear and ripe apple mingle with vanilla and oak spice.
• Up front, crisp Asian pear, pippin apple and tropical fruit guide the entry.
• Balanced by notes of caramel, ginger and clove.
• Across the middle, the Carneros grapes show their face, lifting the silky fruit with a distinct lemon essence and sprightly minerality that carries through the finish.
• Well balanced, with layers of fruit and spice, this wine makes a versatile food companion.
• Enjoy with a variety of foods, including Caesar salad, roasted turkey, and fresh fish in cream sauce.
